Hi.

Requirements are

[*]Country house floorboards. Preferably XL, meaning wider and longer.
    [*]Wood oak
[*]Robust construction, whatever that means. What use is a 3mm wear layer if dents appear as soon as you walk over it because the substructure is soft
[*]Wear layer at least 3.5mm, more would be better.
    [*]Preferably also solid wood

Which manufacturers can you recommend?

I am currently getting an idea, ordering samples and going to the specialist dealer. I would like to have some experiences already. Thanks.

Take what you like. Whether solid, two-layer, or three-layer parquet. The dent has nothing to do with what is on top and how thick it is. Once it is installed, you neither see nor feel how the floor is constructed. I have gone through all variants in the last 25 years.

A soft substructure gives considerable dents under load. It really makes a difference what material the 2nd and 3rd layers have. Most of the time, spruce is used for this, and it is extremely soft.

That is nonsense. You probably know that yourself.

Well, you're quite a smart Alec. Practical example, take 5x5m and don't compact the ground, put small stones on it and then a 5x5m board. Load it and it won't sink in much. Then you take the board off and jump on a few stones. Repeat the whole thing with a compacted ground. … or drop a 1kg ball from a defined height and measure the dent on different floorboards. But hey, you're a great help

@ Please take note of the information from "nordanney" as his answer is technically correct. It is of no use if an apparent technical layperson in parquet technology makes strange assumptions about things that the expert has explained and disproved in a factual manner. The decisive factor for localized impressions on a wood surface is by no means the material thickness or the carrier material, but only and exclusively the density of the wood species in question, thus the hardness of the wood. And: attempting to discredit other respondents just because their answers do not reflect one's own opinion neither serves to find the truth nor belongs in this forum! ------------ KlaRa
