Meal time everyone ...

We are planning (possibly) the renovation of an old building, a detached single-family house from 1957.
At the moment, we don’t know much yet because we first need to be clear about the pros & cons of such a renovation.
Our main concern is therefore to get a rough insight into this relatively complicated topic, and thus we are looking for tips, experiences, and other recommendations from this field.

Of course, we gladly read many posts in the forum... but they are partly so different and numerous that this will probably take some time.

Until then - information about the property ...

    [*]Interior and exterior chimney
    [*]dry cellar (solid)

The realtor gives no further information about the property but only points out a necessary renovation.
I think that the following elements probably need to be tackled as part of the renovation:

    [*]Windows
    [*]Roof
[*]Upgrade / rebuild chimney (possibly for use with pellets)
    [*]Insulation of the facade
    [*]Check / modernize electrical installation

We are not professionals in renovation matters, but rather "simply" handy
Therefore, we ask ourselves questions such as ...

[*]Can the chimney be upgraded so that an "energy-saving water supply / heating" can be connected to it?
[*]Is an investment of around 100,000 euros sufficient?

We ask for some feedback but also know at the same time... that without concrete information no exact estimates can be given. Therefore, we simply appreciate any advice, tips, and other input

Regards,
Sky

Hello,

Is there an appraisal report available? If not, you should insist on it and, if in doubt, have one prepared yourself.

The appraisal report clearly shows the necessary renovation points; they are also supported by a € value. Only when you exactly know what needs to be renovated can you consider a. whether the purchase is worth it for you and b. whether you want/can finance the necessary funds.

... and btw. ask the questions here with the concrete example. Everything else is "crystal ball mode" until then...

Kind regards
