New construction: Ants coming out from the baseboard?!

Hello,

suddenly many(!) ants are coming out of a baseboard. So they are coming from somewhere in the floor.

We have been living in the house since August. Since Friday, numerous ants have been coming out of this corner. Last week we turned on the underfloor heating, but the landscaper was also here and installed the terrace and the drip edge. Does anyone have experience with this?

We are considering: Either the ants have always been under the floor and are only coming out now because of the warmth from the underfloor heating. Or: The landscaper damaged the wall when digging out, so the ants found an access point. Or: A crack or hole was already created in the exterior wall during the construction phase, but only now has a colony of ants moved in close to the house due to the digging up of the garden, so the ants are only now using this access.

Of course, we will contact the developer and wait to see what he thinks about it.

But maybe someone here is familiar with this and has tips or ideas on how something like this can happen.

Thank you very much!

Just look behind the baseboard first

They are nailed down and we do not do anything ourselves due to warranty. If anything, the developer has to do it.

Set some traps.

This year, after our garden was finished, we also found some in the sweets cupboard.

Then I observed for 2-3 days where they were coming from.. They actually manage to get through the seal of the front door, then walked along the tile baseboard into the living room.

I bought traps at the hardware store and after 1 week they were gone.

You obviously assume a defect right away? Why?
The critters get through every corner and crack, as Tom wrote, through seals. No one is safe from that, not even a new building.

Your former site manager is not your new landlord. Please take responsibility for your own house. Someone will not come to chase them away for every ant, wasp or even fly.

Check and inspect. Start control (bait stations, poison dust behind the baseboard)

I once had ants in the rental apartment - on the 2nd floor, years after moving in. I am also in favor of "just looking yourself".
