New box spring beds - even without a headboard?

When I look at the new collection of box spring beds, it's correct that I don't necessarily have to choose a headboard, right? Of course, Ikea primarily offers the beds as a whole, but if I understand the assembly instructions, there are, for example, only two variants for the box spring bed itself - and both stand on their own. Mattresses are then placed on top, and a headboard is screwed on from behind. The box spring bed and mattress only get the cover matching the headboard - that's it.

As far as I see it, one could theoretically also leave out the headboard - right? Background: I would like to have a headboard custom-made and place a box spring bed without a headboard in front of it.

I am not 100% sure, but with the new ones the headboards do not have their own article number, i.e. you could only buy the entire bed, regardless of how it is assembled. That was different with the old ones. Please correct me if necessary.

So I was at IKEA during the week - the price tags on the beds all show individual prices. Therefore, I would assume that I don't necessarily have to buy the backrest.
