Hi,

at the end of the terrace there is a flower bed made from old plant pots (red arrow), which not only look ugly but are also impractical. I have already removed a few (foreground), the question is how do I redesign it there? Does anyone have any ideas? The flower bed should be about twice as wide as it is now. The height must/should be maintained so that the terrace stays in place. I was thinking maybe granite curb stones about 1m long. The planting should be as low-maintenance as possible and there should be something blooming throughout the year.

But somehow that also seems uninspired, right?

Granite... I'm really not a fan when it comes to cheap hardware store granite from Asia. Everyone has it and it looks cheap. You need support for the slabs on the one hand, and a transition to the lawn on the other. I would secure it with these concrete edging stones. Do you want privacy screening? Path to the lawn? Have you already flipped through 2-3 gardening magazines for inspiration?

I immediately think of that thread about the benches in a wall, but I can’t find it quickly anymore. Something like that could also be realized with planting.

Rock garden with small boxwoods, number X in round or square I would place there.

Thank you very much for your answers.

We do not want privacy screening, but rather to have a clear view. We also do not need a path. My idea is to place two small slabs in the bed at one spot to get onto the lawn. But there are also other ways to get onto the lawn, so it is not a main path. I have seen some pictures on Google. I quite like a small masonry bed edging. I saw a wall that had lighting for the lawn included; that's the direction I am currently looking at. It probably looks nice in the evening. Besides the appearance, it is important to me that I can mow the lawn easily, so very likely a small lawn edge will be placed in front of it.
