Hi,
we have the following problem. In our children's room, we had mold growth in the corners last year, which we simply wiped away with Domestos. Unfortunately, we recently noticed another infestation, so I took a closer look at the whole situation. However, I am not an expert. I noticed that on the ceiling along the entire width of the window wall, about 30 cm into the room, the ceiling "looks damp," meaning it is significantly darker than the rest of the ceiling. Additionally, I can peel off the ceiling paint there!!
When touching these spots, they are also considerably cooler than the normally looking parts of the ceiling. I then informed the landlord. He said I should remove the mold with alcohol and wait for the next rain to see what happens. In the corners of the window wall, we only have 12 degrees Celsius; otherwise, the room is normally tempered (about 20-22 degrees) and we have a humidity of about 45-55 in winter. How should I proceed now, or how can I prove that the problem is not ventilation and heating but, as I suspect, moisture or massive cooling from the outside. It may be worth mentioning that the roller shutters are in a simple wooden box that is not insulated at all.
I hope for helpful tips.
Best regards
littlelady

Hello, we had the same problem in our old apartment, which is certainly due to the lack of insulation as in our case. Then the wall is cold and moisture condenses there, causing mold to form. You can dry the wall with a heat source, but it will probably keep coming back.

Hello, could it be that a rain pipe is leaking and the water is always splashing against the wall? That could be the reason why the wall is damp, so you should take a look at what is happening on the outside wall when it rains.

Hello,
mold is very dangerous, especially children can get sick quickly from it. It can trigger allergies and even asthma, you absolutely have to do something about it, it is not enough to just keep washing the mold off the wall. Because the spores are everywhere in the air and the children constantly breathe them in.

Good day, if there is mold in the room, it is almost always due to the uninsulated exterior wall. Then the wall is always colder than the other walls and therefore it is damp and moldy. This is a reason to reduce the rent, so the landlord is forced to take action.

Hello, if you don’t do something quickly, the children might get sick. The mold is everywhere in the air and that can really harm children. Besides, it’s terrible when it smells moldy and so musty. Your furniture will also get damaged.
