Modern roof windows, what can they do?

I'm considering having two more skylights installed. I just want more light in the room and better ventilation options... Important in any case are exterior blinds, windows and blinds electrically controllable, I think triple glazing and possibly something for soundproofing as well? How is it with modern skylights and heavy rain, do you have to expect drumming like in a caravan? Does the blind need the right material so you don't hear anything, maybe a fabric blind as a "damper" after all? Is an electric control recommended for automatic ventilation in the mornings and evenings (i.e. when there is no sun or the temperature is good)?

I want the size so that they fit between the rafters, that would be about 70cm. Length "preferably" long, but 1.2 - 1.4m is also sufficient.

Currently, I see prices of around €2000 for such a window. How much does the installation cost additionally? You would have to open the sheathing, and the roof insulation, install everything and then properly close everything again. I will do the electrical work and aesthetics myself.

Is there anything else you should have with a skylight? I have seen that some can still ventilate with external sun protection. Is something like that worthwhile?

A roof window is louder in the rain than none at all, but significantly quieter than the weight-optimized Hekis in the motorhome.

We had Velux without a wooden blind for 18 years – noisy and tends to rot. We replaced the other two Velux windows 5 years ago with Heim and Haus plastic windows with blinds. I find these better. The noise in rain decreases with closed blinds. It’s louder during hail. In the new house, there are Roto windows. They make a very good impression and seem better insulated than the older Heim and Haus ones. Opening is mechanical, blinds with remote control.

The Heim and Haus windows have a window setting that allows minimal ventilation (similar to a tilt window) even with closed blinds and in the rain. That’s what I do. These windows are hinged at the top end and not in the middle. This is practical if otherwise you can only stand bent over at an open window.

I don’t know current prices. H&H is very flexible in negotiating as is usually the case with most direct sales products.

And what is your opinion on the roof window? Is it definitely easier to ventilate with it? That would be one of the main reasons why I want the roof windows.

That cannot be answered without knowing the room. Also, better than which alternative? Topic ventilation: Two windows next to each other do not create a draft.

A few years ago, we had Velux triple-glazed roof windows installed in an attic apartment. Electrically operated with an electric external roller blind, insulated without slots. Inside, modules can be inserted for an internal roller blind. We have that partly as well. Even with the blind closed, it is not louder than on the tiles. The loudest are rather the metal sheets. Of course, it is louder with hail than with rain. We have a total of 7 roof windows on different sides and floors. This provides good ventilation. What we especially like about it is that you can leave the windows open when you leave the house and the sensor automatically closes them when it rains. Velux has a fairly closed system regarding operation. Although it has improved with IQ.

I have a Gible window and with a roof window I expect more draft than now. I will also install the roof windows rather higher up on the roof, it's less about looking out there. Is Velux a good brand or just a well-known brand? The Heim & Haus ones also seem very good and possibly a bit cheaper.
