Hello!
We are currently planning our carport. Unfortunately, the standard carports have the problem, in my opinion, that they do not really harmonize visually with most new buildings. Especially the tool sheds somehow look like shacks (which they actually are..)
My plan is:
Buy a double carport 6x8 meters, build the tool shed next spring.
Choice of wood/color
This immediately raised the question about the wood. We want to paint the carport anthracite,
so I asked at a specialist dealer and got two opinions:
1. Use pressure-impregnated wood, let the carport "weather" over the winter and prime and paint it with a good glaze in spring.
2. Do not use pressure-impregnated wood because the salts keep coming through the paint.
So what now? Are there glazes where you don’t significantly see the impregnation?
Tool shed
I have seen various constructions on the internet. I have attached pictures – that’s how we would imagine it.
Structure:
Tool shed basic frame clad with OSB boards, tack roofing felt on the outside. Then screw the slats onto a substructure. Use a side entrance door in anthracite.
Roof
At the moment I am unsure whether to go for steel trapezoidal sheets or a wooden roof with EPDM.
The following points speak for the wooden roof with EPDM:
1. Walkable
2. Noise level. Doesn’t drum when it rains.
3. No condensation water
For steel trapezoidal sheets:
1. Significantly cheaper
2. Faster assembly
3. No painting necessary
Just because of the high effort in assembly (and painting 50 sqm from underneath), I would actually tend towards steel trapezoidal sheets. Is the condensation water really that extreme? Does an anti-condensation fleece really help?
Maybe there are other builders here facing the same problem.
Best regards, Daniel
