Hello

I have the following question for you: We have installed 45 Halox boxes with mineral fiber boards in the concrete ceilings of the ground floor and upper floor. The last time, the electrician asked me who is going to make the openings for the spots in the mineral fiber boards. Since I can’t imagine this going smoothly and I might be able to save some money by doing it myself, I wanted to ask if any of you have already done this and if so, how (e.g., which tool)? I should also mention that we are getting square lamps.

Best regards

Are the lamps square overall or just the visible cover? Can one ask the electrician for the installation instructions or get them from the internet so that the holes are made exactly correctly? Often the holes can be round and then the drill and attachment are quickly done

If you have had everything done, including placing the boxes in the concrete ceiling and installing the fiberboards on the ceiling, then I would assign the drywall company to do it. Otherwise, a round cutout is very quick with a cordless drill and a hole saw. If there are many holes, you might want to use a drill. These hole saws are available as a set for relatively little money. Usually, the holes are round, even for square spots. If not, then it is a bit complicated. I would use a multitool. (They are available these days at Lidl on offer, for under 50€. It’s a good tool. I use it myself.)

Thank you for your tips. I will clarify tomorrow whether the necessary holes have to be round. If yes, then I will do it myself, as I even have a hole saw set lying around somewhere.

I now have the information that I will need square cutouts. My plan: A friend (plumber) is lending me a laser device so that I can mark the spots exactly parallel to the wall (using a template). In one corner, I will drill a hole with the cordless drill and then cut out the mineral fiber board using a jigsaw. I have the following question: which jigsaw blades should I use here? The ones for wood?

Best regards
