I have to agree with taschenonkel. Berlin is a bit like exploitation / or the intern generation in the tech sector. Many get by with little pay just to possibly be part of the next Big Thing.
Who wouldn’t dream of being a shareholder in a unicorn...
I had my first job at such a unicorn – until it was slaughtered a few weeks ago and now has only 1/5 of its value left...
However, this is currently changing a lot with internships and low pay in Berlin in the industry. Since I hire people myself, I know the salaries quite well. I know that compared to my former fellow students (both from engineering studies in Berlin and a business administration master's in Scotland) I am currently among the top earners with just over 70k plus bonus. Few earn more. They are only those who became consultants (they then earn 10-15k more and work twice as much) or a few who, thanks to daddy’s help, went into a private equity boutique; they have six-figure incomes.
