Dear all,

since I know that some of you here deal with this and are well versed, I’m just going to ask quickly here.
I want to identify my biggest consumers and do it properly from the start.
What is cheaper / easier?
Put a power measuring plug on all the sockets?
Or in the distribution box? Can you even measure granularly per consumption point there? Or is that not possible?
For example, there is the Shelley 3pm. I haven’t figured out yet if it can only measure the house consumption or individual circuits or even more detailed? Do you need additional modules then?

The reason I am asking is that I already have several built-in devices. I can no longer access the sockets easily (without removing the electrical device). That’s why I would prefer a version in the distribution box, but if it technically doesn’t work or is ridiculously expensive...

Thanks and regards

We now have a photovoltaic system running,
relatively soon the photovoltaic generation and household consumption will be displayed.
For household consumption, I can easily track the peaks, e.g. washing machine, dryer, heating, coffee machine, toaster, sauna, etc.
I can see directly how the wattage changes, simple entertainment.
The totals and trends are in the photovoltaic log, day, week, month, year.
I have no desire to measure every single device directly.
The only one that does not turn off with a thermostat is the toaster, all other devices cycle.

In the distribution box, with traditional electrical wiring, it usually only goes by room or even less. You can estimate this somewhat by what is protected together.

The Shelly can only measure the 3 phases for you in the switch cabinet and if you know where the phase goes, you can roughly estimate where the consumption is, I think!?

If built-in appliances are meant in the kitchen, then this works already in the HAR. Oven, dishwasher, washing machine, stove, microwave are usually individually fused. Otherwise, install a measurement either via an intermediate plug or directly in the socket.

I also first thought of Shelly... but in the end sending my automation through a cloud in Bulgaria or setting up something myself... I choose Bosch. After reading the meter, reset once, and that’s it.

With the biggest consumers, heating and heating circuit and WLAN, you won’t be able to change much, they just run 24/7. And in the kitchen, it depends on how you use the appliances. TV and laptop, in my experience, don’t make much difference.

Oh, and a cistern pump also uses quite a bit.

You must be aware, however, that the permanently installed measurement for 10, 20 devices/outlets costs you much more than you save by identifying heavy consumers. Because you can hardly remove most of them. Even consistently switching off standby devices via Shelly or other manufacturers only pays off after years.
