VW limits the charging power of its ID.x models at a Schuko socket to 2.3 kW, which corresponds exactly to the 10A that a Schuko socket must be able to carry unlimited according to the standard. BMW also specifies a charging power of around 2.3 kW for a Schuko socket...

What a BYD or Schisselaweng does doesn't really interest me; they can quietly draw their 16A and, if necessary, actually set the house on fire.

German manufacturers limit their charging power at a single-phase Schuko to 2.3 kW. And there is a reason for that...

VW does not limit anything on the cars to 10A. The charging bricks currently supplied with the ID3 do provide 10A, that is correct. But the car accepts AC 16A per phase. The eUp came/comes partly with a 13A ICCB and accepts that, as does the 1st Edition of the ID3 partially during the ramp-up. And then there is also the ID Charger Travel, which provides up to 16A per phase.
