The photo shows the Golden M. That is a quality mark. Ours, bought 4 years ago, has it too, but the saleswoman back then either couldn't or wouldn't tell us the manufacturer.

On the topic of durability: our last set from Himolla lasted over 20 years. The fabric was replaced once, the upholsterer was very impressed by the still well-preserved "underneath". And that with 3 children and many visiting children who climbed on it a lot.

Is that still worth it today? You only do that with antiques.

No, it's not worth it. Reupholstering cost just as much as a new set. But I searched for years for a replacement and simply couldn't find anything nice, and I was reluctant to throw away something that was actually good. And anyway, I always slept wonderfully on these sofas in the evening. So there was also some sentimentality involved. :)

Am I supposed to buy a new upholstered suite for 5,000 EUR every 5 years? Sorry, but I consider that completely utopian. Our current sofa is now 15 years old, of course it’s a bit worn here and there, but the fabric still has no tears or anything like that. And we’re talking about a corner sofa in the price range of 1,500 EUR. But in the end, the discussion also bypasses the original question about the manufacturer of the sofa.

Yes, a question of what can still be counted as lifetime. A saggy sofa – I might as well lay a board on it or set up a beer garden set.

I don't think so. It’s about quality after all.

The couch looks to me like it is from W.Schillig.

I am a trained upholsterer and, among other things, a master interior decorator. But I also have another craftsman’s master certification.

If you buy a high-quality upholstered piece of furniture, it will last many years. Recovering it is almost always worthwhile.
Of course, you cannot see inside such a piece of furniture and the quality has generally declined in recent years.

But for example, Koinor or Rolf Benz are good furniture brands. It does not even have to be a brand manufacturer. There are still good upholstered furniture manufacturers in Germany. But they also have their price.

What should you pay attention to? Load-bearing frame parts should be made of beech wood. Fabric or leather should be high quality. Not apparent to the layman.
Latex foam and pocket springs should be present.

I have already taken upholstered furniture from bulky waste and refurbished it because some people dumped their good designer sofa in the bulky waste and then bought a crappy Ikea couch.

One is always amazed at what some people throw away.
