Hello everyone,
maybe someone can help me? I have a corner in the living room where I want to place a (white) bookshelf. I like Billy with a topper the best. However, the wall is mostly somewhat damp (which I unsuccessfully tried to fix), so it’s better to take a shelf without a back panel where the air can circulate. Other shelves like Expedit, for example, do not fit because the adjustable sides of the corner are 1.30/1.20 - I’ve tried almost everything. I already know that Billy needs the back panel for stability, just like the Pax back panel in the Pax wardrobe. My thought: can I place Billy maybe 2 cm away from the wall and secure it with additional angle brackets, and can I remove something from the back panel — for ventilation — so that no mold forms on the wall? What do you think about that or does anyone have another idea?
Many thanks in advance!

Yes, I don't quite understand what should cause you problems there if the thing is "somehow" attached to the wall?! As long as that is ensured - what is supposed to happen then..?

Well, I also think that should actually work. I even suspect that you can really leave out the back panel completely - in my opinion, that thing isn't stabilizing at all. Not like with the Pax back panel. You can also set it up without the back panel at first and then see how it holds - you can probably still add it later.

And regarding stability - in my experience it also always depends on how you distribute the weight in the thing. If you always put the heavy things at the bottom, that already helps a bit.

HI,

so you should definitely leave space for the damp wall. But I would first contact the landlord or a craftsman. A damp wall in the long term is often the cause of mold.

Best regards
