Main lighting with LED strips: is it useful?

But can't presence detectors and automations also be done without KNX? For example, using manufacturer-specific controls, which are available at a fraction of the cost compared to an actuator. Ongoing reprogramming must also be paid to the electrician through the ETS.
My question therefore is: Is a sensible light control of the LED strips also possible via DALI and with standard switches or piezo technology or wireless solutions?

If all your island solutions then talk to each other, sure. There are many free visualizations that can control masses of devices from third-party manufacturers. It just depends on whether you have the time and know-how to do it yourself (keyword Raspberry, etc.) or if you would have to buy it ready-made.

Of course, there are ordinary dimmers for the switch box, but usually, you're dealing with 230V, and that regularly doesn't make much fun with dimmed LED strips. DALI has the advantage of groups and that it is pretty easy in the wiring. There are DALI presence detectors, DALI push buttons, etc., but by the time all that works, you could have done it with KNX and integrated the rest at the same time. DALI is also "just" a bus and there is a good selection of possible bus participants. There are definitely gateways to Enocean, so you could also use such push buttons. At some point, you have to decide on a system for "automations." Fundamentally, you could even do it with Shelly actuators, which also work with normal push-button inserts. There are also roller shutter actuators there.

I briefly read through all your posts. Is there actually anyone in your construction project who has interdisciplinary expertise, who knows what they are doing or somehow brings your wishes together? You don’t - with all due respect - give the impression that you have an overview of the technical possibilities of the systems you regularly bring up here. As someone already said in another of your threads, you don’t have a concept of what you want to implement, with which you then go to an executing instance or to someone who takes you by the hand? It seems to me as if every involved company just throws something at you (ventilation, windows, light, etc.) and you then have to laboriously google it together. Doesn’t make the most promising impression.

Hello Araknis,
with the interdisciplinary control, that is certainly a problem. Lighting and electrical installation come from two different companies, and they are not necessarily well-disposed towards each other. The drywall installer does the lighting, and that poses a certain problem for the electrician.
For the private user, it is important that the system works and that one does not have to constantly invest in services that he does not consider sensible. So, with minor changes, one is forced to always call the electrician.
Our electrician basically had an initial consultation. Content: DALI and KNX are good. But they do not cost little money. KNX between €10,000 and €20,000. Then an installation meeting was held on site. I had previously provided him with the kitchen installation plan, the lighting plan, and a plan for the placement of sockets, network sockets, TV connections, and motion/presence detectors. I included electrically operated skylights, the air conditioning, and ventilation units in the plan. Billing is to be based on measurement.
Then he quickly created an offer that did not include some parts that we had listed. The offer was not communicated personally; only written questions were allowed. I transmitted those. I received answers in writing, yet quite a few things remain unclear. We are now being pressured to make a quick decision. For laypeople, that is quite stressful.

I hoped to find good advice in the forum. This is not so easy, because many different worlds are represented here and are depicted in opposition to each other. The costs for the lighting with DALI are now 21,000 € including ceiling installation. We find this acceptable. However, at 39,000 € for the KNX installation, we do not feel well taken care of. Only blinds, underfloor heating, and lighting are integrated into KNX, without air conditioning, roof window control, and without fans. The video intercom system runs anyway via Busch-Jäger and cannot be integrated into Jung-KNX. This is charged separately.

why the division Dali/KNX across different companies? That alone already costs a nice surcharge because, of course, both want to make a profit from it. And afterwards, in case of problems, responsibilities are also passed back and forth.

The electrician does not consider himself responsible for LED strips and their installation. That is done by the drywall installer, who also installs the ceilings. The electrician could at most install recessed spotlights in the ceiling. The project manager has decided on this division.
