Looking for optimal planting for a natural garden?

I am currently in the process of creating a garden and so far it is still just a bare area. I do not want a meticulously maintained garden with a trimmed lawn but a lively garden paradise. Therefore, I am looking for plants and shrubs that attract songbirds and insects, providing them with food and nesting opportunities. Who can recommend plants from their own experience that create more "nature" in the garden? I am thinking of something like butterfly bush, which attracts day butterflies in summer.

The planting depends greatly on the sunlight and the soil; if I now name a few plants, shrubs to you, it may be that they might not thrive in your garden.

For example, in my case, it looks like this: elderberry, China grass, herbs (rosemary, lemon balm, sage), wildflowers (was a seed mix, don’t even know what they are all called now), viburnum, hedge roses and one/two maples that I prune bushy. Birds and insects feel quite comfortable here.
