I would like to install a central ventilation system that draws in the air from the living rooms, dries it, and then expels it again. So the air should actually only be circulated. I want to do without fresh air from outside. The device should only dry the air. Is there such a ventilation device?

Are you planning your doomsday bunker or why is outside air not allowed? The device you're looking for is called a [Bautrockner], but these are usually only available as a decentralized version.

That sounds like a completely normal dehumidifier. We used to have one in the utility room so it wouldn't get too damp after washing.

But then I might as well put the laundry in the dryer instead of letting it dry in the air and then tediously using a dryer again to remove the moisture?

This can also be done with an air conditioning unit that has the appropriate function. We will use it in summer to dry the house a bit faster. We also have a centrally controlled ventilation system, it must be said that it dries (clothing) a bit less than we experienced in the older house. Still, it does its job.

The dryer is not so good for the laundry, in my experience. Many textiles shrink or get warped in the dryer. I usually only put towels, cleaning cloths, and some children's clothes in the dryer.
