Update: We have now inquired with a local carpenter and the preliminary discussion was consistent, we will meet in the next few days to discuss the details.

We are still a bit doubtful about the length. For the few times a year when you really have 10 people, really bigger than 240cm?

60cm per person, then you can have 4 chairs on each side and 2 at the ends. Comfortable is different, but it should work?

Building it yourself would certainly be interesting, but unfortunately I currently have no time for that and I also lack experience in the wood area.

Not really. As already mentioned, such tables are usually about 1m deep; if you put someone at the head, they occupy the same area of the table as the two people next to them on the long sides.

As an update: We have had the 270cm and 105cm wide solid wood oak table in our dining room for a few days now. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures on my phone at the moment... We can squeeze 14 chairs around the table. The 10 planned are absolutely no problem.

I just made one of ours (Venjakob) – since might also be looking for width 100, length 190 or 290. Table legs always stay at the corner and don’t get in the way.
