If there is space, I would also go at least up to 280 for 10 people. At 240, we can only fit 8.

Build your own table:

2 x 40 mm thick glued laminated timber slats, a narrow walnut strip in the middle as a contrast, (gluing/clamping/planing), if necessary, mount on three low cross slats. The whole on industrial table sled legs/legs. Done.
Costs around 500-600+ EUR for the material.

With scaffolding wood, stain, and brush, there are also great tables

It also has the advantage that you are more flexible regarding the dimensions.

Personally, I find most off-the-shelf tables too narrow. They can only be used as a "long board" where people sit opposite each other in rows. And anyone who has ever sat in a row with 4 or more people knows the difficulties of communicating beyond the immediate neighbor. In addition, there is hardly enough space in the middle, and depending on the construction, the poor seats at the table legs.

Whenever possible, I would recommend a very deep table where 2 people can sit at the head ends (at least ~120 deep). With only 200 in length, you can already seat 8 people at the table, all of whom can see each other and have almost the same area in the middle of the table, which they can use significantly better.

Same here! After a few years, we also bought a bench to go with the table afterwards! Everything worked out great!
