Ideally, purely from the idea of a "long house," I would place the entrance on the broad side because this allows for zoning into private and public spaces. Of course, that means ... a slightly longer external path.

The external path can then be shortened again by incorporating a small angle and placing the door on the front side, but slightly set back (left or right, here left?). The entrance area would then be, for example, somewhere in the rear first third of the house – that way, the living and sleeping areas can be separated, with the dining area in the middle.
