Hello, we are currently in the draft planning phase for our single-family house. The floor plans are mostly finalized. Only the living room is causing us some headache. We have currently planned one with 3.85m by 4.50m. Towards the dining room, a 2m sliding door is planned. My girlfriend thinks the living room is too small. But I find it OK. We then have a large spacious dining area. What do you think specifically about the living room size? Thank you

It is not large - but it also strongly depends on the rest of the house and the usage - and on the furnishing of the living room. You shouldn't put many cabinets against the wall there - then it can feel oppressive.

Hello

for us, the living room is THE center. We have an open-plan kitchen and living room of about 40 sqm, floor-to-ceiling windows onto the terrace/garden. The little one has his play corner.

Everything revolves only around the living room...

Can understand your girlfriend!

As a purely living room, I find it quite small. Where do you spend most of your time? I always find open spaces more comfortable because they can visually create a sense of "openness." The question, of course, is how much space do you actually have to plan?

Thanks first of all for your answers. When we add up cooking, eating, and living together, we come to over 50m2. In the living room that we want to semi-separate (hence the sliding door) there will only be a large sofa and a small living wall with a TV on the wall. So in terms of the dimensions, I could live with that.

I find it quite small. How many doors are there besides the sliding door? Patio door, door to the hallway? So our pure living area is about the same size, but it is open to the dining room and if I imagine a wall there, I would find it quite oppressive. And what about children? They also like to play in the living room. Why do you want to separate the living area?
