Hello everyone,

I have already searched extensively in the forum but unfortunately found nothing suitable.

It is about a property that has a small slope from the street but then everything is already level. Since it is south-facing, we would like to use the relatively large meadow and use our terrace in the basement as the main living area. That is why we also want the living, dining room, and kitchen in the basement. The front door is usually on the same level as the street, that is, on the ground floor. That means you would enter the apartment and then go directly down the stairs. I have never seen it like that. Likewise, the question is whether we should build 2 or 3 stories. Equally, the question is how it will be when we are old, the children have moved out, and we can no longer walk stairs so well. Has anyone perhaps had the same situation or has some ideas on how this can be sensibly implemented? We are currently a family of four. Possibly one more child will come.

We want to collect the possibilities first to see what would suit us best.

How big is the height difference in the building window.

Friends of mine have sleeping and entrance on the ground floor
living area in the basement

Everything was also thoroughly discussed here

In old age, there are stairlifts and so on. Moreover, the question arises whether one still lives in a house that cannot be maintained.

Thank you for the link. What I have seen, however, is that the basement is planned as a children's room and the living area is still on the ground floor. I am mainly interested in the basement as the main living area with living room, dining room, and kitchen. I have not found that yet.

Neither did one just now, otherwise I would have added it already. Only, testing a newcomer right away with Franky73's lengthy thread is a bit daring
Whenever this topic is debated here, the discussion eventually comes to the recommendation to definitely combine living and cooking on this level, since otherwise there would be a lot of stair climbing between enjoying the garden / kitchen work / supervising children; and of course, that it is a matter of taste to go down to the living room. But "even I" can't recall a wide range of threads right now.
