Light court/light trench within or outside the building boundary

I have a question regarding [Lichthof/Lichtgraben]. Are these only permissible within the building boundary or also in the area of structural installations outside the buildable property areas, where, for example, garages/ancillary structures are allowed?

According to § 23 Baunutzungsverordnung: "(3) If a building boundary is set, buildings and parts of buildings must not exceed it. A slight projection of building parts may be permitted."

This is always a matter of discretion for the building authority and depends on the extent of the exceedance and possibly other aspects, which can only be assessed based on the individual planning situation.
