Hello everyone,

in December our basement floor (WU concrete) was poured, since the end of January the roof has been on it and the basement is dry (at least visually there have been no moisture stains / dark spots since then). From mid-December to the end of January there was about 3cm of water in the basement.

Since we have two weeks off now thanks to Corona and can't go anywhere anyway, we would like to use the time to level the basement rooms with floor leveling compound and possibly already lay tiles afterwards.

Is that possible now, or do you have to wait a little longer until the concrete floor is further "dried" or cured?

Thank you in advance for your help!
Markus

Self-leveling compound should be fine, as it can "breathe". I would still advise against tiles. It is said to be possible earliest after 3 months from installation, but it is cold, there was water in it, etc.

Don't you get screed in the basement? Why does the floor structure differ from the other floors in your case? Normally, on the raw subfloor, there is insulation, screed, tiles!

Even within the scope of the Energy Saving Ordinance, I find it difficult to imagine even if you could have insulation under the slab. How did you build Energy Saving Ordinance, KfW55 (I am excluding KfW40 and better)?

Thank you and !

We are getting screed everywhere including insulation + floor covering, except in two basement rooms. Insulation under the floor slab is present. The house is KfW55.

It was actually just a calculation example:
Waiving screed in the two basement rooms brought us almost €2,000 credit. For the leveling compound in the two rooms, I pay €250-300. Since they are purely utility/storage cellars, we don’t see a big advantage in laying screed there? On the contrary, the consideration was rather that we would gain about 12 cm of room height.

Or am I overlooking something? Does it make sense to have screed everywhere?

The question is whether this has been coordinated with the energy consultant so that the missing insulation in the 2 basement rooms won't mess up your KfW invoice.

If screed and insulation are missing, the height difference between the other rooms is already extremely significant. We are talking about about 13cm (including tiles, at least in our case), which feels like half a step. Just Google it, maybe there are objective reasons to lay screed after all.

I would think twice about that... you'll create a great stumbling hazard. The noise when you walk around on the floor, handle things, etc., goes through the whole house. Don't you have underfloor heating in the basement?
