LED ceiling spotlights in delicate ceiling

Hello everyone,

My ceiling is delivered and installed without any preparation for spotlights. I have read that there are providers who pre-install corresponding holes and LED mounting housings in advance.

How does it proceed in my case for the later installation? Do I drill the holes myself and use the same mounting housings or different ones? Does anyone perhaps have inexpensive recommendations?

Your case is, in my opinion, the much more complicated one.

Why do you proceed this way?

Basically because we are still not quite decided on the lighting concept. It has changed several times now because someone saw something different/more beautiful again and since we would do it ourselves, the effort is not that bad (as far as I can personally assess).

it sounds like the ceiling has already been ordered. If that can’t be changed quickly, you can only drill afterwards. Electricians and shell builders should work together on that. The elegant solution is to drill the installation boxes directly into the precast ceiling, lay empty conduits, and then pour the topping slab. Otherwise, the effort is even greater. Unfortunately, there are not many alternatives left.

Yes, that's how I imagined it, all work before the top concrete. I just can’t quite imagine how to install the boxes and haven’t found anything to read about it so far. Do I just place the boxes on top of the holes and screw them on? Is there sealing material between or are they glued?
