Simultaneously looked a bit at properties and already made some contact with construction companies.
Found out that good acquaintances/friends of ours still have a plot of land "left" (great location).
Talked to them and clarified what they want and received assurance that they would keep it free for us until we are at the point where the house planning etc. is such that a total volume for financing is clear.
Searched for the final construction company and eventually signed.
Then finalized financing and bought the land.
Of course, this only works if you are so lucky to have land from friends. Between our conversation with them and the land purchase, they actually received several other purchase inquiries, where more money was also offered. But luckily, they are people who still keep their word.
