Hello everyone,

does anyone have experience regarding the additional cost of a brick facade compared to a plaster facade? Roughly how much extra cost can one expect?

Has anyone also regretted cladding the house with bricks?

Thank you very much.

I see no disadvantage in clinker, except for the price.

Unfortunately, it is not really common in my area.

No, I don't. But you have to compare monolithic or ETICS with clinker. And then there is the question of the clinker – which format / processing and thus which price (besides the normal price differences in the material with uniformly sized clinkers).

I have already lived in a brick-faced house (classic red-multicolored clinker), then in a mixed house (ground floor clinker in large 2DF format and upper floor ETICS), and now I am currently applying ETICS on a clinker facade in the new house.

No, I do not regret the clinker. But it also has no significant advantages except for the issue of soiling and sensitivity to external influences. Subjectively, nicer clinker looks "higher quality" in appearance. My personal opinion.

Read somewhere between 15 and 25,000 for a common 160sqm house about 5 years ago. It also depends on the house size and the clinker. These are approximate prices in terms of quality.

Our BT wanted €22,000 (2019 price list) for clinker instead of plaster, only for the ground floor, the upper floor of the "Stadtvilla" then plastered. We let it go. That was a developer price, they really charge a lot. So rather at the high end.

Our neighbors are building their bungalow with clinker, I am really in love with their façade. Wienerberger ... I would have to inquire more about it again.

The price, in my opinion, is also the only reason against it.

I would also mention the aesthetics. In the area where I work, the development plan requires brick facades because there used to be a brickyard there ages ago (although these are rather uncommon in the south). Some houses look good, many are mediocre, and you can simply tell that some just have cheap imitations stuck on without any consideration for how the house looks. Long story short: if, then do it properly and not the budget option ;)
