Hello everyone,
I wish you a Merry Christmas and have a question right away.
We started building this month. It will be a detached house with a slab foundation and a garage, which we are having built by a local general contractor.
The slab was poured on Thursday, and we looked at it today.
I wonder if there was a mistake, as I interpret the plans differently.
Maybe I am completely wrong with my lay observations, and I will speak to the general contractor in the new year. But right now I am pondering, and maybe you can immediately dispel my concerns.
It is about the following:
Our solidly built brick house is constructed with a double-shell method and plastered on the outside (wall assembly from inside to outside: 17.5 cm Poroton, 18 cm mineral wool, 11.5 cm Poroton). The garage is recessed by 25 cm facing the street.
Now the slab of the garage is slightly further forward than that of the house. To me, it looks as if the slab is aligned with the course of the load-bearing walls. That would theoretically fit, but the facing wall must also be built on the slab and cannot be “hanging in the air”?!
Am I overlooking something here?
I have attached a drawing and a photo of the execution.
I am very curious about your assessment.
By the way, our general contractor is the structural builder and creator of the slab.
Thank you ✌️
