Hello,
who has a dirt-trapping mat for installation in a floor recess?
I’m still not sure if it’s worth it. They are certainly not cheap.

Does anyone have experience with cleaning and durability? (price-performance ratio?)
Thank you in advance!

Do you mean inside or outside on the entrance platform?

… somehow belongs to the topic "money burning," or what could be better for that than a simple doormat?

In the entrance area: you don't trip over it, it doesn't slip, it looks tidier, and the front door doesn't scrape over it... it's a kind of business card when you enter the house as a guest there first.

Burning money? Well, the ATO entrance mat cost about 100 euros (saved around 40 euros on tiles for that), the hairdresser himself didn't care what was laid at the entrance, everything was the same price.

Cleaning? Remove the mat when vacuuming, shake it out, and vacuum the "inner compartment". Done.

You mean inside… inside we have nothing at all, because dirt is wiped off outside. Nothing is needed there either…

Your floor installer might also charge different prices than the one from T.

Personally, I wouldn't make a hole, dip, or recess in my floor, where every edge, rail, or material change would rather constitute an intervention in the surface, thus limiting the spaciousness.
I also personally find it disgusting to collect dirt in this recess… I once had that outside at the townhouse.
But whatever… the question… I would see that as a disadvantage and wouldn't spend money on it.
Our portable mat has now been moved from the entrance to the terrace, because a lot of dirt is naturally being brought in there now. Therefore, a grille would have to be recessed there as well. And maybe also in the utility room.

I ultimately did not do it. Unfortunately, you cannot lay a doormat outside with me; I have a normal mat inside.

Good that I didn’t have it installed. I hadn’t even thought about where the mat is best needed. For me, it is not centered and a spacious piece behind the door. Now there is a flat, not so nice mat that is easy to clean. That is the most practical. And it cost a total of 10 euros.

The neighbors also didn’t think well enough about where the mat goes. The tiler installed the mat place centrally. Admittedly, it looks better but is harder to clean. Pulling out the mat, sweeping around within the border with the hand broom or using the vacuum cleaner. They don’t have to do it that often because the mat is in the wrong place and dirt is still brought in.

You can even make a planning mistake with a built-in doormat.
