Is it still possible to move the parking spaces after the building permit?

Hello everyone,

we are now already in the final phase of our construction project.

Approved is a single-family house with a double garage (7.5m boundary construction on the east) and two parking spaces.

On the building application, the parking spaces were once drawn in the middle by the architect. However, it now turns out that it would be much more practical to move the two parking spaces to the western property boundary in order to bury the gas tank and the cistern etc.

A parking space is not a "constructed building" - does the boundary construction etc. then not apply here? My question: Can we simply place the parking spaces there, or do we need to get approval again?

The construction project is in Baden-Württemberg, in case that matters.

Hi,

better ask the building authority. Everything else is just guesswork...

Best regards,

Andreas

Thank you for your reply Andreas, but I actually want to do that only when I really have to. I just wanted to hear first if the experts can give a clear answer.

We had some bad luck with our architect and already had to get a terrace, the size of the garage, and a retaining wall re-approved. I don't want the building authority to pay even more attention to us than they already do.

Do you have to build up the parking spaces?

The parking space is open at the top, as they nicely say in official German; this means it may also be placed on the property boundary. But since in your permit it was positioned differently, you should actually go to the authorities and explain the circumstances on site. Theoretically, you could even buy yourself out of the parking space obligation; insofar, the approving authority will surely want to agree. So go to the authorities with your plans and explanation; there are _only_ humans there too. Rhenish greetings

It is definitely not a building, so it can be located on the property boundary, ergo subject to approval, as the building expert already describes.

If you find out afterwards (keyword building inspection), it might get more expensive because building authorities usually charge a surcharge for retroactive approvals.
