Is it possible to retrofit air conditioning if controlled residential ventilation is available?

An air conditioner cools the air, which causes liquid to condense because cool air can hold less water than warm air. The so-called condensate is then drained off, so that ultimately less humid air remains. Since this air gradually warms up again, the relative humidity further decreases.

Hello,

You’re not really asking that, are you? Why can the inside of a refrigerator be cold even though it has no connection to the outside? And how does that work in summer? ;-)

SCNR....

In Wicki and co you can find pretty good explanations of how an air conditioner works. But briefly summarized: It only cools and dehumidifies the air present inside the house and does not exchange air. Air exchange is done by controlled residential ventilation. That’s different from what you’re used to with the air conditioning in cars, which also exchanges the air simultaneously.

Best regards,

Andreas

Nope. An indoor air conditioning unit draws warm air from the room, cools and dehumidifies it, and then returns it to the room. The same air, only cooler and drier. Controlled residential ventilation does what my predecessors said.

And in case the umpteenth person asks right away: No, you cannot air-condition a house with a normal single-family house controlled residential ventilation system.

Zehner has a cooling option for the Q600 ventilation unit. It probably provides 2.x kW cooling capacity, but it costs a lot.

But even the Zehnder technician advised me against it when calibrating the system and said I could save my money because it’s no good.
