Is it allowed to position privacy screens arbitrarily on your own property?

Be glad that you are not planting a hedge. The maintenance should not be underestimated.

In the meantime, we had another chat with the neighbors. They are actually very nice people and we get along well.
It turns out the shed doesn’t really suit their taste either; it was only due to a storm accident and that thing is basically a temporary solution for an indefinite period.
There were no problems with my idea to put up a privacy screen there; they even said they would help us install the elements. :)

We agreed that we would plant the hedge on the rest of the property outside the line of sight of this shed. I said that was okay with us. But now I have the following problem: Unfortunately, these neighbors are quite loud. :/
Nothing illegal, but in the afternoons they like to turn the music on in their garden, a bass-heavy kind, and that blasts everything outside, and unfortunately it’s annoyingly loud in the living room even with the shutters closed. And I find that disturbing. My husband can ignore it, I cannot not hear it — that is not the neighbors’ problem, that is my sensitivity regarding noise.

Now I’m thinking about what we could do instead.
It concerns the entire yellow-marked area including the meter above it behind the carport where our trash bins are. Somehow there needs to be a preferably tall (?) sound barrier. How can this be solved elegantly? What absorbs the most sound?
What came to mind was a brick wall, or wooden fence elements covered with climbing plants? Or something completely different?
