Is it allowed to lay tiles on fresh screed?

Obviously, the screed is walkable after 1 day. Then the tiler will start. He then has 3 days for the floor tiles. Tile adhesive is used. Grouting will not be done yet. Then everything should dry together. After 2 to 3 weeks, the underfloor heating warm-up program begins. The tiler has been using this method for 20 years, and in the largest tile store in the region, the method was definitely not unknown. This is how it is done now, anyway.

You can actually do it that way if the joints remain open.

Wet-on-wet is the term used in tilers' jargon

Are no decoupling mats being installed?

Between screed and tiles? Why? It would be interesting to know what happens with the sealing in wet rooms... No moisture should pass through there anymore, but it is supposed to. Or do they skip the wet rooms and do them later?

When we took over our house a year ago, the tiles in the living/dining area were cracked in some places (see example in the picture). The expert was convincing that the screed was certainly not yet "finished" when it was laid. To be safe, decoupling mats were laid before installing the current tiles. Since it is not a new building, that probably would not have been necessary ... but better safe than sorry :)

We only tiled halfway up the walls in the bathrooms and have no problems with moisture.
