Is it common for health and safety planning to be carried out by the client? Especially when building [schlüsselfertig] with a general contractor? How was it with you? Did you have to do it yourselves or outsource it?

Is a client task. He can of course delegate it.

With us, there officially wasn’t one, because no one asked.

In our general contractor contract, the inclusive services included "Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsschutzkoordinator (SiGeKo)".

The requirement for a SiGeKo is, to my knowledge, not dependent on the size of the construction project in any federal state, so it is fundamentally also applicable for single-family houses. At least, where one is allowed to write "father-in-law" as "site manager" on the form, it is often not the task of a specific person in practice, and then it is a "client-side" service (i.e. of the owner) or an inclusive service provided by the non-discounting general contractors.

Was provided by the GC. Was ultimately the CM.

Is more frequently passed on to the client and ignored by them in practice. With my general contractor, I also cannot imagine that anyone there is certified for safety... thankfully the construction site is now finished...
