Is a small house possible as a single?

Hello

So far, I haven't given much thought to building a house. Actually, I am looking for a 2-room condominium. Unfortunately, I have been searching for a very long time and simply can't find anything suitable. Mainly, this is because I really want a small garden, and most apartments are not offered with a garden.

Therefore, I am now considering whether I could afford a small (really only very small, about 60 - 70 sqm) house. Unfortunately, the information on the internet is also scarce. There is a lot about large single-family houses, but hardly anything about small houses for singles. The plots offered are also mostly much too large.

For your information: I am 40 years old and definitely do not want to start a family later. What is especially important to me is a low price! I am looking for a retirement provision and would like to live quietly and in a green area. Since there are no heirs, I do not want to pay off the house for the next 30 years. I have equity of about 75,000 euros, which is currently being eaten up by inflation if nothing happens soon. My monthly income is unfortunately not high (1600 euros).

Is it realistic at all to think about a small house in this situation, or should I rather leave it alone? Does anyone have experience with such a problem? Does anyone know anything about offers and prices for small houses? Are there corresponding plot offers?

So in Austria, 1600 euros is a dream salary. So for us it would definitely be possible. But I don’t know what it looks like in Switzerland. As I already wrote in the other forum. A prefabricated house costs around 150,000 euros. But maybe you will find something cheaper after all. A plot with a little house will surely be available somewhere. Order it from the universe ;) I speak from experience

@Gibi Honestly, I have no idea what you’re writing here. And I would be even more confused than before. And what is the expression "Du hast keine Frau die sich eine teure Küche wünsch"? I love such prejudices once again. I am a woman and I don’t give a damn about expensive kitchens. Because I really have better things to do than stand behind the stove.

This is also possible if you are single!

If you want to come to your own four walls, I wouldn't hesitate any longer because, with your equity, it is surely not a problem to get a loan. If possible, get a building plot in the countryside; it's much cheaper there. If you calculate what you pay in rent over the years, you could also pay off a house in that time. You should also look for government assistance; maybe that will be cheaper for you.

Hello, here in Germany there is the possibility to lease a plot of land for life. You practically build on someone else's land. This way, purchasing the land would be unnecessary, the lease is low, this definitely pays off for you!
