I have no knowledge of heating systems and insulation but I ask myself the following question. Is it even worthwhile to purchase a relatively expensive heat pump for a house if it is already almost perfectly insulated? I mean, the better the insulation, the less I have to heat. That also means: the less I have to heat, the longer it takes for the additional costs of a heat pump to pay off. Am I making a mistake in thinking, or wouldn't it be more sensible to opt for a conventional gas heating system in a very well-insulated house – because it is cheaper to purchase?

You are thinking correctly regarding the amortization. The idea behind the use of heat pumps is sustainability, they make you independent of increasingly scarce fossil fuels. A gas condensing boiler does of course also work: economical, low flow temperature.

I will take up this question again because the topic is and remains relevant. I think a heat pump is always worthwhile. Of course, the purchase is quite expensive, but it protects our environment. This is especially important for our future because some energy sources are becoming increasingly scarce.

Good, that is one side, but for many, the money is the priority. The investment costs are indeed significant. I calculated for myself, it takes 15 years until it pays off.

That is a long time.:(

So I simply find the purchase of a heat pump too expensive. We prefer a solar system in combination with a wood heating system. That is also environmentally friendly and the energy generation of the future.
