Hello everyone,
we have a question.
We have Labradors and with the right motivation (e.g. a cat), they can also jump over a 1.40m high fence. Therefore, on our new property we would now like to install a 1.80m high double rod panel fence.
The property is planned as follows
So far, nothing is built yet; house construction is in planning.
We would like to have the fence around the back of the house, as shown in green in the picture. The street is located to the left of the hedge. So we would place the fence 2m from the property boundary or from the sidewalk. The other two boundaries, i.e. south and east, are neighboring properties.
Now the development plan states the following:
"Enclosures
Hedges made of site-typical deciduous shrubs and fences (picket fences) up to a max. height of 0.8m above the finished sidewalk level including a ground clearance of 0.1m are permitted along public traffic areas, on the remaining sides up to 1.5m (no fine-meshed wire mesh). Massive bases are not permitted. Dry stone walls made of roughly stacked local stone are allowed. Only landscape-typical inconspicuous materials may be used."
Does this now mean we are only allowed to have a fence 0.8m high on the sidewalk side? Or would this only apply if we place the fence directly on the boundary?
And on the neighbors' sides only a maximum of 1.5m? If so, is there any way around this, is there any possibility to make it permissible to erect a 1.80m fence?
By fine-meshed wire mesh, a normal double rod panel fence is surely not meant, right?
What is meant by massive bases?
Furthermore, I found:
"Visible surfaces
No structures or growth above 0.50m height
Enclosure of corner plots:
hunter, slatted, plastic-coated chain link or plank fence not over 0.80m including the ground clearance of 0.1m (measured from street level)"
Corner plots probably do not concern us; we are exactly in the curve (hence the rounding in the property), but it is not a corner plot.
But what is meant by no structures above 0.50m height?
Why is it generally forbidden to erect a visual barrier?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers and support on this topic.
Best regards
Sonja
