I have aerated concrete blocks on the outside and calcium silicate blocks inside.

When I nailed the expanded metal over the slots, the nails came out of the calcium silicate blocks; even when I tried to nail into the joint, I bent some nails.

With the aerated concrete, the nail went in with one hit... it holds the metal where it should be. But I wouldn't hang anything on it...

So the tendency: both should be drilled. One is too hard, the other too soft.
