Hello everyone,

In our new house, the question now arises whether the non-load-bearing interior walls should be solidly built or made of gypsum boards. Our concern here is only better sound insulation. We are already aware of the other pros and cons (hanging pictures, etc.). Especially in the wet areas like the guest WC and also the bathroom. Since both rooms adjoin the living room or bedroom, one doesn't want to acoustically follow every toilet visit.

Many thanks in advance for your answers!

Hi,

for this reason, we had all interior walls made of cold/sandstone. Do you have underfloor heating? If yes, be careful where you place the sub-distributors for it. At that spot, the wall is then very thin!

Fun

Hello,

Every stone has advantages and disadvantages, and you can't just nail something into a KS block either.

The gypsum board has excellent sound insulation – contrary to its reputation, which I cannot understand. A Poroton wall also meets the requirements for sound insulation:

Sound insulation:

Already 30 cm or 36.5 cm thick single-shell exterior walls made of lightweight bricks with lightweight mortar and plastered on both sides generally meet the requirements of DIN 4109 "Protection against external noise."

The requirements for sound insulation for partition walls in DIN 4109 are easily met with walls made of bricks with raw densities of up to 2.4 kg/dm³.
