Q3 is one more layer. Anyone who has to sand noticeably there just doesn't have it and would have to sand after every layer. Sharpen thoroughly and basically after every layer and that's good. Q4 is extreme, not necessary here and sanding might be preferred there.

Completely independent of the first name, you need practice and strength for puttying with a longer trowel so it goes quickly. Those who have that will be fast and good.

Best regards Gabriele

To my knowledge, Q3 only means that the plaster is smoothed, not that an additional layer is applied or that it is sanded. With us, it was (Q3 ordered) smoothed again while still wet. The result was quite good.

Then they started patching up spots, and that made it look unpleasant because the surfaces were different.

In the end, my husband puttyed and sanded everything (without a machine), primed and painted, and the result is probably closer to Q4. But it looks really good! We definitely wouldn’t have been happy with the other.

Please google the Merkblatt Verspachtelung of the company Knauf. I am not allowed to link it. Everything is there.
