Hello everyone,

we are building our single-family house through a general contractor. Today I noticed that the perimeter insulation was damaged by the excavation work (see attachment 1). Is that bad now?

Furthermore, a studded membrane layer was applied on the perimeter insulation. This was attached to the perimeter insulation at certain points. Is that okay? The consequence now is that many stones fell between the perimeter insulation and the studded membrane during the excavation work. Is that bad?

Thank you very much.

That it was damaged does not matter, what role is that supposed to play? Stones should not fall behind the foil. That is unfavorable!

Now the soil comes into direct contact with the perimeter insulation. If it is "intact," then that is not the case.

The studded membrane is intended to protect the perimeter insulation from mechanical damage caused by soil and stones. If stones fall behind it now, the whole thing is counteracted.

Okay, understood. The question now is, how serious is the whole thing. What consequences do I have to fear?

If there is a large stone in between and the insulation is compressed, the effect is nullified. The right thing to do would be to remove the studded membrane once and check, but probably no one will agree to that.
