Hello,
I am not an expert and before insulating my roof as described below, I would rather hear a few opinions on it.
For simplicity's sake, I am uploading a few pictures for better understanding.

In advance, I can get commercially available kitchen rolls very cheaply.

There is old glass wool insulation with aluminum foil between the rafters, which is only about 60mm thick. The kitchen rolls are simply pressed onto it and the 12mm OSB board (12mm for flexibility) is screwed to the rafters. (rafter thickness 160mm)

The visible OSB boards are sealed at the joints with Isover adhesive tape and thus act as the vapor barrier.
Additionally, I want to insulate the floor, possibly using 20mm Styropor and OSB boards.

Questions I have regarding the processing shown and described in the pictures are:
- Could mold occur?
- Is this forbidden from a fire protection point of view? Or are there roof insulations with similar easily flammable properties that are, however, quite common?

Honestly, my first thought: April 1st is still a month away.

If the question is meant seriously: hardly anyone has probably thought of that so far, and I don't think it would have a controlled, even insulating effect. In my opinion, you can also save money in the wrong place. With a statement like "can be done" you probably shouldn't expect here.

I also had to first make sure that today marks the beginning of March and not April.

Keep in mind that kitchen paper is supposed to absorb moisture quickly. If there is a lot of moisture in your roof, you have to expect that suddenly there will be a paper mush. To put it somewhat exaggeratedly.

You can insulate with paper, but is it then treated so that it is flame resistant, or am I mistaken?

So from a fire protection perspective, I consider what you plan to be something that should be quickly forgotten again.

Better buy insulating material that is also made for that purpose.

I did the same, but with toilet paper. However, only three-ply rolls were allowed by [Brandschutztechnik], so I had to remove one long layer from the four-ply roll each time and rewind everything. It was a bit tedious, but it was worth it.

So I know that my father used to insulate with cardboard boxes... in old buildings we have also found fabric scraps and everything you can imagine. Considering the price of insulation wool at the hardware store, I don't even know if toilet paper wouldn't be more expensive.

I find it plausible to insulate like that ☺. I have an apartment for rent where they also insulated and built with newspaper and other waste. OOPS, the year of construction was in the 50s, there wasn't much to choose from back then...

... and meanwhile I have had it properly renovated.
