Insulate laminate better

Hello,

since I like to be prepared for everything early, an important question for me is the flooring. In the current apartment there is laminate, which I do not like that much. I don't know whether it was poorly insulated, but the walking noises are quite disturbing. It also sounds very tinny when you walk on it. Are there special insulation options or should I rather take parquet, even if it is more expensive?

Regards
Hans

Hi Hans, I don’t know how you installed the laminate, because normally there should be an underlay for impact sound insulation underneath.

Hi Hans,

I can understand that very well.
Laminate is just not as good as parquet.
It's not only about the impact sound insulation so that the subtenant is better protected. It also clatters when you walk on it yourself. It can be annoying sometimes.
I prefer carpet in the heavily used areas.
But if you prefer wood, although laminate is often not real wood, I would recommend parquet to you.

Hi Marie,

I also assume that I will prefer to take parquet. It is a bit more expensive, but I find it more homely. Primarily, it is about me or us, so that we get a cozy house. The neighbors, which you don’t have in a detached house, don’t matter. I can understand that the noise of footsteps on laminate can also bother you yourself. Not everyone wears felt slippers :)

Regards
Hans

Yes, wishes are so different, only parquet or laminate also have more problems in old age. Especially with parquet when you have to reseal it again, and sand it first :) I wouldn’t do parquet anymore, rather a tile covering that is laminated in structure, and has underfloor heating underneath.

Hello Henry,

that is also a good idea, although with tiles the noise disturbance can be very high as well. I am just thinking about how my wife always makes the clicking sounds with her high heels :)
Carpet would probably be the best, but we both don't want that.
Parquet is already a good compromise, even if it will have to be sanded down and resealed at some point.
Underfloor heating is of course also in demand, especially because of the heat distribution throughout the whole room.
