Hello everyone! I cannot insulate my bathroom from the basement and now want to do it underneath the floor tiles instead. Which material is recommended? It of course also takes away ceiling height, so the thinner the better. Thanks and regards

Well, the thinnest would probably be vacuum insulation panels, but they have to be installed by a company. That would be 2 cm plus screed 2.5 cm (dry construction).

Describe your floor construction. Sounds like you don't want to remove the screed (or whatever the current floor covering is).

PUR boards are suitable, they are not as thin as vacuum insulation panels, but noticeably thinner than with conventional materials. The U-value (thermal loss value) can be calculated for you by the supplier of the PUR boards. The legal value (U= 0.30) would be ideal, I would aim for at least 4 cm insulation thickness, otherwise you won't have a noticeable effect

All the best

Hello, first of all, thank you for the hints! More info: My house is older than 1945, corresponding to the structure: steel beams with concrete, this with a high proportion of sand, the rest are small stones. The screed must be removed, it consists mainly of sand... Currently, the water pipes lie in it, which also have to be removed. Removing them will not make a difference in height, there will definitely be a step to the neighboring room with the insulation because the floor will be tiled again. The whole house is to meet KfW standards, the consultant says that we have some leeway here and there, and the architect thinks that the room below still offers space for a thin layer of insulation. So it comes down to insulation from above and below, he says.
