Hello everyone,

we have chosen an ESS Easy Drain Compact FF Zero (EDCOMFFZ1000-30) for our shower in the new building.
Since we only have a total of 10 cm up to the top edge of the finished floor for the floor structure, or only 9 cm with a 1% slope, it has to be a flat model.

Now the tiler said that he cannot install the selected channel neatly because it only has a very narrow frame and no proper edge to orient himself or to screed against.

What I think he means or wants is an edge like, for example, an Aco channel has:

With ESS, however, it looks like this:

Unfortunately, I could not find a flat channel, i.e., one that builds up little in height, that has such an edge.
Do you have any tips, or am I misunderstanding everything?

Thanks and best regards

Hello .. certainly not the dream of a tiler but he should build an "edge" out of Wedi in front of the channel and not make such a fuss. The rest depends on his skill.

... although I would be cautious there, because if it is not done properly, moisture damage is inevitable. I especially don't see a flange/seal on the flat channel to connect to cleanly. Have you discussed the manufacturer's specifications with the tiler?
