In principle yes, but then you don’t have a handle that separates the flush-fitting fronts from each other.

I repurposed a child safety lock for cabinet doors for this. The parts are only glued. You can also disable the "carry-along function." The inner drawer is released either by the corresponding magnet (which sensibly always lies inside the drawer) or by hand at the latch itself. It may not be optimal, but it is definitely a cost-effective solution - completely without drilling. A set with 4 child safety locks costs about 12.-, and the magnets are also available separately.
