I discovered the Ingatorp table today - not directly through Ikea, but because someone was looking to sell it used via a classified ad - but I have not yet taken possession of it because this particular piece offered had quite severe damage on the tabletop. Among other things, there is a spot where bubbles seem to have actually formed in the lacquer (see linked picture (yes, you can view it without a Dropbox account)).
The frame is solid, but the tabletop is chipboard, plastic-coated, and lacquered... After seeing the damages described above, I now wonder - did they put hot pots on it and did a child also hack at the table for years with cutlery, or is this a table that cannot be used without a tablecloth without damaging it? I find it so beautiful that I would actually like to buy it new. Would therefore be very grateful for any experiences!
