Hello everyone,
I have a small problem with my construction management company regarding an incorrect material delivery.
The drywall trade was carried out by me as a self-performed task. I had the material delivered by my site management, including insulation wool, battens, adhesive tape, foil, etc. The plan was to insulate the collar beam ceiling and the roof slopes with 20cm WLG 035. However, I was only delivered 18cm WLG 035. I didn’t notice this during installation and only became aware of it after the drywall boards had already been filled and I wanted to file the delivery notes with the contracts. That was certainly a mistake on my part, not checking everything before installation.
Now I have confronted my site manager about it. The good news is, the Kfw70 credit is not at risk; the recalculation of the insulation is still sufficient to meet all requirements. The bad news is, he wants to charge me, as the person performing the trade, the 500 euros additional cost for the recalculation.
Is that acceptable? I am actually not willing to bear these additional costs. On the contrary, I would rather have the reduced material costs and the increased heating costs for the coming years reimbursed to me. I consider tearing out the "wrong" insulation inappropriate and uneconomical. However, I also don’t see why I should be liable for my site manager’s mistake just because I didn’t notice his error.
Am I completely wrong, or how do you see it?
Thanks in advance.
