Hello dear Ikea friends,

we have equipped our Malm bed frame with 2 Sultan Laxeby sprung slatted frames and 2 Sultan Fonnes mattresses, each 90 x 200 cm.

However, the following problem occurs: in my opinion, the slats shift too far to the side, so that after about 2 nights you end up sleeping on the edges of the slats. Obviously, this causes back pain.

On my side of the bed, the problem is more pronounced, which certainly has to do with weight.

Now my question is, how can I remedy this or is the problem possibly known or even completely normal? I wanted to discuss this here first because the purchase was made over 3 months ago and the next Ikea is about 60 km away.

The only idea I have is to staple the slats to the strap or something like that, but then maybe all the flexibility of the slatted frame would be lost?

Best regards, Chris

Hello,

that's not because of the weight. We have the same problem with the [Lattenrost]! The slats stand up on edge and you actually lie on the edges! Not recommended!!
We will buy a new [Lattenrost] (not from Ikea) and return the [Sultan Laxeby] to Ikea again this weekend.

Best regards
Daniela

Hi,

I would pack the frame and drive to IKEA with the pictures. Pack the receipt and either start a new attempt or take another slatted frame.

But... what seems strange to me... In your pictures the lower slat is shifting. The upper one sits perfectly. Why can the lower slat, which has really twisted a lot, twist like that??? Maybe the error is there?
Just an idea. Check there again. Maybe the error is there.

Hello,

the slats on my slatted frame are also shifting, but the upper slats have also twisted, so you lie on the edges of the slats. I suspect the plastic holders on the edge, where the slats are clamped in, are incorrectly designed or there is a material defect or something similar. The slats are twisted in the same places as in the photo, only even more steeply, always where a lower and an upper one lie on top of each other.
Best regards
Daniela

hello everyone,

today I had exactly the same problem with my brand-new laxeby double frame (2x70cm). the slats were so tense that I could only assemble it with great effort. the solution to the puzzle: the two inconspicuous slat straps are each asymmetrical and have different sized holes. the side with the 17 smaller holes belongs on the foot side.
