Ikea Karlstad 3-seater sofa bed / reupholster

Hello dear ones,

I am slowly getting desperate and that's how I came across this site. Maybe you can help me.

Yesterday my 3-seater sofa Karlstad and also the Karlstad armchair were delivered and both were assembled. However, the covers were not put on, which I initially didn't think much of, because you usually assume that you can put them on afterwards. But now I had to realize from the instructions that the cover must be put on before or during the assembly of the sofa?!?! I fiddled around a bit and tried to get the cover on - no chance. Neither on the armchair nor on the sofa.

Do I now have to completely disassemble the sofa & armchair to get the cover on?? And then possibly every time I want to wash the cover?? That can’t seriously be their intention, can it? I am alone and I will never be able to take this sofa apart alone, let alone put it back together. Honestly, I am extremely disappointed, I was so looking forward to the sofa, even paid extra for the assembly, and now it’s standing there and I can’t get the covers on..... *desperate*

I think there is only one thing to do, pick up the phone and call the Ikea hotline, explain your problem, it looks like the guys who assembled the furniture forgot to put the covers on, and ask for a follow-up installation, because it is not really completely assembled like this. And that was the assembly service you paid for. Normally, someone should be sent to you free of charge to fix it! If you live close to your Ikea, go to customer service with your receipt, that usually is faster than the hotline!
